Just reflecting on Luke and I's spontaneous day trip to Lake Arrowhead a few months back. Really wishing he was already back from China. We both expected him to arrive tonight, but there was a bit of a mishap with his transportation from the hotel to the airport that resulted in him missing his flight. So there's that.

Nonetheless, I am so excited for his arrival tomorrow! I hope his jet lag doesn't get the best of him cause I want someone to play with! lol

Happy Monday everyone!

Rockin' in Jacquard

Hey lovely people!

I styled my current favorite jacquard platform heel sandal from Nine West and wanted to share with you the three different ways I rocked them! Note: If not familiar with the term jacquard, it is simply a design that is incorporated into the weave of a fabric instead of printing or dying it. Jacquard designs are intricate with design repeats usually but not limited to that of paisley or floral. I always say it reminds me of the Elizabethan Era where brocades and damask were displayed amongst the nobility's daily wardrobe. Here are some examples of jacquard designs:

Large_0414880.jpg
UL-835.jpg

Straying away from the conventional paisley and floral design, the jacquard fabric on these heels displays really lovely gold feathers.

Outfit 1

Top: ZARA Bottom: Levi's

How simple do I think this can get? As simple as the sun's light seeping through my  window every morning and directly or indirectly kissing my skin, introducing me to another day. The use of black seems to always be an easy task for me (says everyone else in the world) and to add a little sass I'd only need a splash of color. Cheers to another all black outfit with a touch of gold.

Outfit 2

Top: ZARA Bottom: Thrifted Bongo Jeans

IDK about you but loose-fitted denim jeans + heels is a favorite of mine. & what I had in mind for this outfit was street meets office. The shirt and the heels are office elements, and the high-waisted denim gives it a street casual kind of touch. Is this a thing? It is now!

Outfit 3

Top: ZARA Bottom: Anthropologie

This last outfit was probably the most comfortable for me. I've had this black tube top for a while now. One thing about me is that I really enjoy wearing strapless tops or dresses. I think revealing the shoulder is sexy without being excessive. & to finish it off I chose these red bottoms to help accentuate the gold on the heels.

Which outfit is your favorite?

Rihanna Inspired Halloween Lookbook

It's Halloween Season!

Hey guys! It has been a long while. But now I am here, we are here and it is the season for spooky kooky stuff! Well, not quite kooky or spooky on this blog entry. But I do have a treat for you! This weekend might get a little too scary for some so I just thought to relieve you guys and share a treat for sore eyes in advance. If you haven’t already you should scroll down and watch my Halloween Costume Lookbook! It is my take on Rihanna’s You Da One and We Found Love Video.

If you’re wondering what has been happening these past few months, well, wonder no more. I want to skip past explaining or sharing the reason for my absence and just be here in the present. Although this summer was very significant I’d like to treasure it by keeping it reserved for my own self reflection.

What I do like to share is how uberhappy I am about my recently completed project! It has been the perfect stimulation to my creative soul and sharing it with you is the best part. I’m just happy for the revival of my artistic habits. Thanks to Luke for being such a sport and helping me execute this very fun, sassy, slightly sexy, and energetic video! It was a lot of fun and I hope you guys enjoy it!

I am always stunned by the talent that I'm exposed to and even more honored when I get the chance to be a channel of exposure for those talented individuals. Whether it's working behind the scene or being active on screen I enjoy being a part of it all. My friend Tamta and I have teamed up recently to shoot for her Etsy account that's been taking it's course for quite sometime now. Although time doesn't give us the freedom to collaborate more often than wanted we try to grab onto the chances we do get. So this time around we got a chance to shoot locally at a small urban curtained wetland in Torrance, California, known as Madrona Marsh. The specified pieces I'm wearing are either sewn from scratch or vintage finds that are meticulously hand embroidered by hers truly. Each item is unique in it's own way. All units are now available on her Etsy account! I have provided the link down below, or you can click on the title of each outfit!

About the Lil Tings

Hello there! Welcome back to my blog! Assuming you've seen my short ootd video w/ Tweety then you've seen what Tweety and I went through. But what we went through were trivial matters. I'm here to remind you not to worry about the little "tings".

Most of the time we can find ourselves a bit irascible. We can be full of angst and dread. When in fact if you take everything else into perspective things aren't that bad. You've heard this more than a hundred dozen times but it could be worse! Trust me, I have to tell myself this always. It is only a spec in time so don't get angry when the car up front didn't hit 50 mph as soon as the light turned green (Don't have road rage!) lol. Remember there are things you have control over and things you don't. Do not let anger or frustration take over your life! Yes, unfortunate things happen but that's only preparing you to appreciate the better things and heighten your joy when good things come around. Take it easy, I'll be back soon!

That's why I'm here to help you look you're best for NYE! IMG_1240.JPG

First I have here a spontaneously thrown together outfit! It was like one of those days where you casually throw something on and it coordinates effortlessly. The black faux patent leather purse is the newest item on this ensemble. It is such a unique piece with a spacious interior. Then I decided to play with my favorite mesh dress again to remind you how versatile it is! This time I wore a short spaghetti strapped body con dress under the mesh to be a little flirty. Then I paired it with my almost vintage Vince Camuto heels that I bought for my high school graduation a few years back and finally my statement piece for this ensemble is this sequined blazer that I got during summer sale! I call this look A Sequined A'Flare. Sequined items are definitely a piece you can wear to bring in the new year because it is festive. Anything that sparkles is always so lively!

I just want to wear slip dresses all the time! They're so sexy and classy! I believe slip dresses would definitely be a nice NYE outfit if you're going to a cocktail party or maybe even a NYE date with a loved one. Bring in the new year with class and style. Here I paired it with boots and a long denim coat to give a hint of streetwear.

Finally the last outfit! This was a fun ensemble! This might be more on the casual side compared to the other two but it is still very cute! Maybe you're not going all out for NYE. If you are just going to lounge at a bar or a house party, maybe even a get together with your family this outfit could be perfect for you!

It's Summer Somewhere

IMG_0849.JPG

Hello beautiful people! I know it is December and this Cali weather has been a bit fresh lately but I wanted to share this outfit with you guys before the year ends! Don't forget that it is summer somewhere else so for those of you who are traveling to places, such as Australia or Brazil, here's a little OOTD for you my loves!

IMG_0847.JPG

Top: Brandy Melville in Nordstroms

IMG_0850.JPG

What is great about this top is the V-neckline in the front and back allowing me to layer with other items. In this case I used a bralette. Exposing the bralette gives it a simple sexy feminine look.

IMG_0842.JPG

Bralette: Nordstroms

IMG_0845.JPG

Wide Leg Pants: Thrifted

IMG_0846.JPG

I thrifted these cotton high-waisted wide legged bottoms for $7! You can't beat that!

If you are a thrift shopper you know that it can be a gold mine for cool brand new unique pieces that at one point someone neglected its potential. But if you don't thrift shop, give it a try! Not everything you find has been used so you may find some really cool vintage pieces!

Stocking Stuffers!

DIY Hand Scrub and Lip Scrub

Here's an idea why not make a homemade hand and lip scrub to use as stocking stuffers! Brilliant right?!

Hello beautiful people! I am back! Yvette and I made a video for those of you who just can't get enough of DIY activities.

She made a lip scrub and I made a hand scrub! Why scrubs you ask, because they are great for exfoliating and softening the skin. It removes dirt and dead skin cells allowing your skin to breathe and feel refreshed. I don't recommend using it everyday because it will dry your skin out but twice a week is ideal.

Hand and lip scrubs are very easy to make and all you need to do is dig in your kitchen for most of the ingredients!

Watch the video if you want to turn those rough hands into smooth hands and those crusty lips into kissable ones!

Ingredients for Hand Scrub

1. Brown or White Sugar/ Salt

Sugar or Salt will act as the exfoliant,

scrubbing all the nastiness away!

2. Coconut Oil

Your skin will love you for this because

it will moisturize the heck out of it.

3. Fragrance Oil

Fragrance oil for some aromatherapy. :]

& that is it!

Last Minute Halloween Costumes 2017

Last Minute Halloween Costumes

from Our Closet

Hello everyone!! It has been a very long week and Yvette and I have finally posted our first ever youtube video as One Plus One. Check it out here or on our youtube channel. Below are photos we took in between takes so you guys can get a good look at what we had on!

70's Groove

We chose the  70's because this era has been making a comeback for the past year or so and we believed that it is an easy costume to put together. In the video we listed items that will fulfill a 70's look!

Scream Queens

This costume was so much fun, we wanted one of the theme to be a show or a movie but we felt like all the girly obvious movies we could think of such as Clueless and Mean Girls have been done countless times. So we kept brainstorming, and we decided to create our version of a Scream Queens look! Which I thought was brilliant because off the top I knew she and I had fur coats. Which by the way if you didn't already notice a fur coat is an item crucial to fulfill what I think definitely screams out "Scream Queens"! We asked permission to shoot this outfit on a random neighbor's front lawn and we loved how it all worked out! I hope you guys liked our rendition of a Scream Queens attire! List of materials will be on the video.

IMG_0501.JPG

Personal Pick

Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd & Modern day housewife

With this last look, we both chose our own character. My goal was to use my prom dress, and at first I was going to be a queen. But I felt like I didn't have enough statement jewelries to play that character. Then I just kept thinking of characters who would work with my prom dress. Somehow I thought of Mrs. Lovett. I did my research on her character to see what I will need to complete the look. Later I figured all I needed was to do the hair and makeup correctly, put on the dress and thats it. I had done a trial run of  the makeup because I wanted to make sure I could do it and surprisingly it was very easy. The day we shot was the first time I did the hairstyle and it turned out perfectly messy! Overall we had a blast putting all this together! I hope you guys enjoy or have enjoyed the video we put together!

Off to a Meshy Fall

DSC_0022.JPG

OOTD / Lunch & Errands

Location: Burbank

Mesh Dress: Zara (Trf)

Sports Bra: Athleta

Cargo Joggers: Zara (Basic)

Purse: Zara (Women)

Boots: Zara (Basic)

As fall struggles to make a comeback in LA, I'm effortlessly playing in my net dress enjoying the sunny afternoons in Burbank!

DSC_0071.JPG

The fun thing about transparent/see-through pieces are the endless possibilities of layering them together with other pieces! Here I have my net dress that you have previously seen on my blog "Unfamiliar Territory".

DSC_0043.jpg

Since I liked the look of the first outfit I did with the black sports bra I ended up resorting to another sports bra with an army green color which lead me to an earth tone color palette. If the item itself doesn't suggest fall I guess I have to do it with the color scheme! I paired it with a brown/tan-ish drawstring cargo pants to expand the color palette.

I finished it off with my most comfortable leather high heel ankle boots from Zara's summer '16 collection. But don't worry they have something similar this fall and are as comfy as the pair I have. Here's the reference number for those boots 6100/101/040.

Hope you guys enjoyed this outfit and hopefully it inspired you to create an OOTD for your next outing!

IMG_9706.JPG

Keys View was the final stop at Joshua Tree National Park! (refer to the video)

On a side note, I was so excited to wear this net dress! You're probably wondering how I managed to hike with it on, well, it is possible! I do have a little tip, just don't get too close to any bushes or branch or else you'll find yourself struggling to get out. But other than that you will be fine. This net dress is very versatile because you get to layer and let me tell ya, layering becomes your best friend! What I did was just put it over my workout clothes and voila sporty chic! lol I know I know it is simple and basic, but that was what I was going for! It would even look good with leggings and a t-shirt paired with your favorite sneakers. It is a very fun statement piece that is why I am showing you guys another outfit that I put together with this net dress. But that will be on the next blog post so keep in touch!

Before summer 2016 becomes history I decided to go on a staycation to Palm Springs! It was such a beautiful experience! From the moment I got there to the moment I left I was reminded of how much serenity there is to this unpredictable and precarious world.

I arrived at Palm Springs Aerial Tramway then my journey to the top began. The ten minute tramway ride rotates as it rises above the deserts allowing everyone to get a 360 view. Halfway up I felt my hands getting clammy because I was a bit intimidated by the level of elevation we were reaching. I had about a 2 minute mental breakdown that I kept to myself. I thought to myself, wow, maybe I do have fear of heights. I kept my composure using Snapchat as a distraction. There's no turning back now, plus it was too good to be true!  The location was breathtaking, literally. Still, I was in awe even though I was a little nervous. As the tramway got closer and closer to 8500+ elevation my nerves were calming down and relieved once it arrived to the top. I exited the tramway and arrived at San Jacinto Mountains! The weather was about 15 to 20 degrees cooler, and it was absolutely refreshing. Being that it was my first time, I was very observant and as I looked around almost everyone was dressed in hiking gear, and prepared to explore the mountains. But then there's me in a sundress about to take lots of mental and digital photos to document. But even without the hiking gear, I got in touch with nature. The fresh atmosphere gave me a feeling of restoration, making me forget all that worries me. I would definitely revisit this location to do a lot more exploring! If you love to hike, this is a place to go! Next time I'll be prepared and geared up for action.

In the meantime, keep in touch! I have a few more photos and short stories to share from the trip!

Change, My August Zeitgeist!

IMG_9734.jpg

August has been bittersweet but today is a start of a new month! But first let me give you a highlight of why August has been such a bittersweet time for me. I will spare you the details because I don't want to bore you. I did a lot of moving, physically and mentally which resulted in an uneasy state. I changed my job and  living location that put me miles away from some of my closest friends. As the weeks passed the uneasiness or  bittersweet feeling lingered with me into the month of September, the feeling of change.  I guess it is normal to feel this way when major changes happen. But it is such a rare breed  that when it does commence everything seems overwhelming. Maybe it is the unpredictability of the future. But on the less despairing outlook it posts a possible thrill. It opens a window for adventures.

We all go through change. Some changes may be good, and inevitably sometimes bad but at the end of the day all we can do is let it take its course. Be patient! Change is happening all the time, in my case, August came with a load of change. Slowly but surely I am adapting to the changes and remembering that life goes on and progress will be made!

In between all the changes with myself, my life, my emotions, I found time to go on a staycation to Palm Springs with someone who I hold dear to my heart. I will share my time in Palm Springs in my upcoming blog post. Stay updated my loves!

Striped Ts & Highwaist Jeans #1

Hello fashionistas! I have put together 2 ensembles for you!

It'll be two separate blog posts. This will be the first of 2!

Ensemble #1

DSC_0389.JPG

Let me say I am in love with this striped knit top that I got from Zara a month ago! I don't remember how much it was because I don't recall buying it on sale or regular price. But I remember it being between $15-$30. What I enjoy most about this knit top is the color combination they use because it projects a retro feel to it. I paired it with blue denim high-waisted bottoms, also from Zara! Uh oh, have I become the person who only shops at Zara?! Maybe so, but you can help me! I'd love to hear where you guys get some unique and fun pieces! There's a tab on the top right corner that is titled FEEDBACK! << or click feedback right here. I'd love to hear from you guys!

Clutch:

Ok I know, you could barely see it. But I've been wearing this clutch  a million and one times (it's like my favorite) eventually I'll get a detailed photo of it before I scratch and damage it some more.

Wrapped in Honey

When do I ever look forward to a Monday morning? Unless, a spa day awaits me! Am I right, or am I right? My Aunt Brooke, Mom, and I had planned a spa day away from the city. Shout out to AB because she introduced my mom and I to this beautiful location in Ojai at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa!

Our day began at the spa, soaked in all the lavender in their special lavender steam room, got in the pool, developed some tan lines (the not so flattering ones), and eventually went in for the Honey and Orange Blossom Wrap. It was an amazing feeling. If only I have time to get pampered like that everyday! Afterwards we took a stroll around the campus.

I took these photos (except for the very bottom photo) as we toured the country club. It couldn't have been a better day, the weather definitely completed the ambience. Not for long we ended up at a restaurant that also resides in the vicinity called The Oak. Under the main course I ordered Pacific Salmon and let me tell you that topped it off! Happy tummy happy life. I also poked at my moms meal (Shrimp Linguine) and my aunt (Grilled Pork Chop)  because we love to share. But I wish I had all the plates to myself, but it's not a perfect world is it? Haha.

"The city of Ojai is situated in a small east-west valley, north of Ventura and east of Santa Barbara. It is approximately 12 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean coast. Since Ojai is lined up with an east-west mountain range, it is one of few towns in the world to have a "Pink Moment" occur as the sun is setting. The fading sunlight creates a brilliant shade of pink for several minutes on the Topatopa Bluffs, over 6,000 feet above sea level at the east end of the Ojai Valley. It is a rare and magical moment that thousands of visitors come to Ojai annually to see." -http://www.ojairesort.com/socal-resort-experience.php

We didn't get to experience The Pink Moment at its very best because the pacific coast was running a little gloomy that day. No complaints though, the day was still beautiful. Got to spend it with two of my loved ones.

You guys are probably wondering, where are the spa photos? Did I really get a spa treatment? Well, I wanted to respect the privacy of the other guests, and keep the the disruptions to a minimum. So the photo above was taken outside of the spa. I guess you just have to go to see it for yourself!

Sun Kissed

Impromptu test shots with @revnunnwisdom

FullSizeRender.jpg

You see

my hair isn't really this color

my hair isn't really this light

but it turns out

when I am kissed by the sun

I am blessed with radiance

so then I thank the sun

of its importance.
