Air Yoga

The summer body starts here! Visited @airfitnow studio on 3rd street today  to continue my journey to having "nice abs".  I love to eat fried food, I love desserts, I love meat, I love food! I do really well watching what I eat, but sometimes I don't want to. So I aim to stay active, and try to exercise whenever I can.

Today's air yoga went well. It required a lot more upper body strength than I thought. These photos shows one pose that I have mastered. Well, so I felt like I've mastered. It's really not a hard pose. What I struggled with the most was the air headstand. I could not flip to save my life. Maybe it has something to do with the lack of upper body strength I have. But the main reason why I wanted to do yoga today was because I had planned on treating myself to some @RidgesChurroBar (they're bomb.com, follow their IG and food truck). Overall, air yoga was fun. The silk fabric was a little discomforting at times but if you steer your mind away from that uneasy feeling and focus on getting the right posture and breathing then you'll be fine.

About Last Month

Well here I am, again, typing this blog because I accidentally deleted it in a parallel world somewhere.

Meanwhile, as I get over my frustration of just being a clumsy tech savvy...

About last month...  I went to the Formation Tour! Such an amazing time. It was my first time seeing Beyonce live, and she is truly a boss! Here are some photos of the outfit I wore for Bee day.

The following day I attended Shameless Maya's birthday and YouTube anniversary! It was such a good time. She held a panel and everyone got to spend a little more time engaging and getting to know some of her life experiences. It was a room full of inspiring and inspired individuals. Right below is the outfit I wore for this event.

Seeing Beyonce's formation tour and going to Maya's birthday celebration just gave me a feeling of accomplishment. Surrounding myself with the right atmosphere that engaged in love, art, music, passion, drive, and dedication feels liberating. I want to keep reminding myself to stay active in the things that excite me the most, that I love doing.

Pizza Party for Gabi's Birthday

Don't be shy, be nosy and click play |>

Happy Birthday Gabi!

Dating back to a few weeks ago. I attended my lovely friend, Gabi's birthday dinner hosted at her house. Gabi and I met in Tailor Made Fashion Club at El Camino College. We've been friends for about three years now! Although we hardly get to see each other with our complete day and night schedules we've maintained a really good friendship. She occasionally hosts dinner parties during the holidays and opens the invite to some of her closest friends to celebrate and during those dinner parties we get to catch up, play games, and exchange stories.

This time around my schedule happened to be in my favor and I had an evening free to attend her birthday dinner. It was perfect since I wasn't able to make it to her last Christmas dinner. They hired a personal pizza chef, and let me tell you, genius idea! I was eating every kind that night. Every pizza I tried were bomb.com! Ok, enough about the pizza. I'm starting to crave some now. It was a perfect night, always so happy to get reunited with some of my good friends that I don't engage with daily but when we do it's just good genuine fun!

Welcome Back Orthos

IMG_6610.JPG

Heeyyyyy guys! I promise to do better in posting more content. School and work just has me on a real grind lately. But school is about to be over! That means I will get more time to share some really cool things with you guys!!

Just wanted to share the come back of these "ORTHOS"! If you read my blog A Beauty in Disguise you'll know the background story of these shoes. Go check it out if you haven't!

I really enjoyed this outfit. It's chill and sassy. Sassy on top and chill at the bottom. A pair of white sneakers and distressed denims can go a long way. Try different tops to see how versatile your closet can be. Once in awhile try to explore outside of the basic graphic tees when pairing with denims and white sneakers. You may end up finding some old gems you forgot you had.

Also, remember when I spoke on matching details together. My last example was matching my socks to the same red purse I used with this outfit. This time it is the red purse, red lipstick, and sunglasses!

A Beauty In Disguise

When you see potential in something it starts becoming beautiful or rather brilliant. You start seeing the possibilities of its worth and the value it portrays. That is what happened in this instance.

IMG_5796.jpg

We received a new pair of sneakers at work and everyone thought they were awful including me. "How can they?" "What are thoooose?!!" were the kind of reactions everyone had. Everyone meaning my not so pleased co-workers. Saying how much it reminds them of nursing shoes or orthopedic shoes. Well, I agree they do, and let me say they are not as comfy as orthopedic shoes, not that I've ever worn a pair, I'm just assuming. Although maybe I should because after wearing these babies my feet and my whole body aches!!

IMG_5798.JPG

As I put them on for the first time  I started envisioning their potential. I said maybe they can look good outside of the whole ensemble(uniform). So it gave me an idea, blog entry! And here I am am! Running my mouth about these wanna be orthopedic shoes. lol

Anyways, back to the fun stuff. I told @YvetteCorinne what if we style these pair of "Orthos" (the name I decided to give it just now) outside of the uniform and blog about it? Of course she was as excited as I was. So we started planning and helping each other put something together.

What did Drake say?? "When I see potential I just gotta see it through"

We did see it through! Yes Drake you know how it gets. These outfits(referencing to the video) are very easy to put together. We decided to stay away from skinny jeans or any pants for that matter  because we felt like it would've been the usual go-to for any sneakers. So we tried to think outside of the box. Not too far out, because these are very basic outfits that anyone can throw together. We chose to do high-waist, midi, pencil skirt, (which ever you prefer to call it) + a cropped top! What can go wrong? Nothing at all!

IMG_5788.jpg

With my outfit I added a gray crew neck pullover cropped top to wrap asymmetrically around my waist for a little playful embellishment!

When you see potential in anything take advantage of it! You see potential, you see possibilities, and options. Why? Because your mind is thinking creatively. Beyond. Outside the box. Whether it's about love, your career, choice of meal, etc. Just see it through!

Pre-Spring Feels

It is finally up! Yes, these contents have been cookin' in my photo album for about a month now. Excited for you guys to watch the video and see the photos.

Let's talk Pre-Spring! This ensemble was easy and effortless. Great for the cloudy California days when the clouds make its dramatic appearances right before Spring!

This solid army green cargo vest definitely provides a spring feel. Very light weight in the fabric and easy to pair with a lot of things from florals, to geometric prints, and solid colors.

In this instance I didn't want to go for a full on spring feel just yet so I stayed away from florals and bright colors. It was a cloudy and breezy day by the beach, so I paired it with a two layered black dress. The inner layer fell as short as the reach of my fingertips with a low V-neckline in the front (right below) and a very low U-neckline in the back (watch video). The sheer outer layer of the dress fell as low as my ankles with a slit on the left and right side. The slits on the dress matched perfectly with the slits on the vest. So as the gust of wind hits me off sometimes (Pharrell reference) the garment doesn't feel heavy and baggy.

IMG_5065.JPG

Let's now talk booties! They're my favorite!! In love with these pair of shoes that I got from Zara a year and a half ago!  Black booties are a must have! These particular ones are embellished with buckles that are detachable so I have a choice of wearing them plain and solid.

Fun Fact:

The beautiful and gorgeous model Gigi Hadid owns a pair.

Lastly, I grabbed this authentic leather bag pack that was created by the talented Natalie Hemmens. Click the photo right above if you want to see more of her leather goods!

Derby or Oxford?

Hey beautiful people!

Originally I had discussed that my shoes were a women's version of the traditionally known Oxford, but in my recent finding, it is actually a Derby! The reason for this is the lace system.  What do you think my shoes are? Open or Closed lacing? It is open lacing! Silly me!

Video at the end of this blog featuring my wife @yvettecorrine

IMG_4978.JPG

Quick Fact:

Derby's are also called Blucher, the terms are used interchangably without getting too technical. But there is a slight difference in the two if you'd like to know refer to this video at 2'30".

These babies are so easy to play with. Beige is a subtle neutral color, so you can definitely make it fun contrasting it with colorful socks or maybe ruffled socks for those who want to be adventurous with their palette.

Here I paired them with Tommy Hilfiger socks that perfectly matched my "Bonjour" red shoulder bag. Matching small details such as earrings to belt, top to shoelaces, and as an example here, bag to socks, can definitely finish off a look.

Don't forget to watch the video^
