Rockin' in Jacquard

Hey lovely people!

I styled my current favorite jacquard platform heel sandal from Nine West and wanted to share with you the three different ways I rocked them! Note: If not familiar with the term jacquard, it is simply a design that is incorporated into the weave of a fabric instead of printing or dying it. Jacquard designs are intricate with design repeats usually but not limited to that of paisley or floral. I always say it reminds me of the Elizabethan Era where brocades and damask were displayed amongst the nobility's daily wardrobe. Here are some examples of jacquard designs:

Straying away from the conventional paisley and floral design, the jacquard fabric on these heels displays really lovely gold feathers.

Outfit 1

Top: ZARA Bottom: Levi's

How simple do I think this can get? As simple as the sun's light seeping through my  window every morning and directly or indirectly kissing my skin, introducing me to another day. The use of black seems to always be an easy task for me (says everyone else in the world) and to add a little sass I'd only need a splash of color. Cheers to another all black outfit with a touch of gold.

Outfit 2

Top: ZARA Bottom: Thrifted Bongo Jeans

IDK about you but loose-fitted denim jeans + heels is a favorite of mine. & what I had in mind for this outfit was street meets office. The shirt and the heels are office elements, and the high-waisted denim gives it a street casual kind of touch. Is this a thing? It is now!

Outfit 3

Top: ZARA Bottom: Anthropologie

This last outfit was probably the most comfortable for me. I've had this black tube top for a while now. One thing about me is that I really enjoy wearing strapless tops or dresses. I think revealing the shoulder is sexy without being excessive. & to finish it off I chose these red bottoms to help accentuate the gold on the heels.

About the Lil Tings

Hello there! Welcome back to my blog! Assuming you've seen my short ootd video w/ Tweety then you've seen what Tweety and I went through. But what we went through were trivial matters. I'm here to remind you not to worry about the little "tings".

Most of the time we can find ourselves a bit irascible. We can be full of angst and dread. When in fact if you take everything else into perspective things aren't that bad. You've heard this more than a hundred dozen times but it could be worse! Trust me, I have to tell myself this always. It is only a spec in time so don't get angry when the car up front didn't hit 50 mph as soon as the light turned green (Don't have road rage!) lol. Remember there are things you have control over and things you don't. Do not let anger or frustration take over your life! Yes, unfortunate things happen but that's only preparing you to appreciate the better things and heighten your joy when good things come around. Take it easy, I'll be back soon!

Last Minute Halloween Costumes 2017

Last Minute Halloween Costumes

from Our Closet

Hello everyone!! It has been a very long week and Yvette and I have finally posted our first ever youtube video as One Plus One. Check it out here or on our youtube channel. Below are photos we took in between takes so you guys can get a good look at what we had on!

70's Groove

We chose the  70's because this era has been making a comeback for the past year or so and we believed that it is an easy costume to put together. In the video we listed items that will fulfill a 70's look!

Scream Queens

This costume was so much fun, we wanted one of the theme to be a show or a movie but we felt like all the girly obvious movies we could think of such as Clueless and Mean Girls have been done countless times. So we kept brainstorming, and we decided to create our version of a Scream Queens look! Which I thought was brilliant because off the top I knew she and I had fur coats. Which by the way if you didn't already notice a fur coat is an item crucial to fulfill what I think definitely screams out "Scream Queens"! We asked permission to shoot this outfit on a random neighbor's front lawn and we loved how it all worked out! I hope you guys liked our rendition of a Scream Queens attire! List of materials will be on the video.

IMG_0501.JPG

Personal Pick

Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd & Modern day housewife

With this last look, we both chose our own character. My goal was to use my prom dress, and at first I was going to be a queen. But I felt like I didn't have enough statement jewelries to play that character. Then I just kept thinking of characters who would work with my prom dress. Somehow I thought of Mrs. Lovett. I did my research on her character to see what I will need to complete the look. Later I figured all I needed was to do the hair and makeup correctly, put on the dress and thats it. I had done a trial run of  the makeup because I wanted to make sure I could do it and surprisingly it was very easy. The day we shot was the first time I did the hairstyle and it turned out perfectly messy! Overall we had a blast putting all this together! I hope you guys enjoy or have enjoyed the video we put together!

Off to a Meshy Fall

DSC_0022.JPG

OOTD / Lunch & Errands

Location: Burbank

Mesh Dress: Zara (Trf)

Sports Bra: Athleta

Cargo Joggers: Zara (Basic)

Purse: Zara (Women)

Boots: Zara (Basic)

As fall struggles to make a comeback in LA, I'm effortlessly playing in my net dress enjoying the sunny afternoons in Burbank!

DSC_0071.JPG

The fun thing about transparent/see-through pieces are the endless possibilities of layering them together with other pieces! Here I have my net dress that you have previously seen on my blog "Unfamiliar Territory".

DSC_0043.jpg

Since I liked the look of the first outfit I did with the black sports bra I ended up resorting to another sports bra with an army green color which lead me to an earth tone color palette. If the item itself doesn't suggest fall I guess I have to do it with the color scheme! I paired it with a brown/tan-ish drawstring cargo pants to expand the color palette.

I finished it off with my most comfortable leather high heel ankle boots from Zara's summer '16 collection. But don't worry they have something similar this fall and are as comfy as the pair I have. Here's the reference number for those boots 6100/101/040.

Hope you guys enjoyed this outfit and hopefully it inspired you to create an OOTD for your next outing!

Keys View was the final stop at Joshua Tree National Park! (refer to the video)

On a side note, I was so excited to wear this net dress! You're probably wondering how I managed to hike with it on, well, it is possible! I do have a little tip, just don't get too close to any bushes or branch or else you'll find yourself struggling to get out. But other than that you will be fine. This net dress is very versatile because you get to layer and let me tell ya, layering becomes your best friend! What I did was just put it over my workout clothes and voila sporty chic! lol I know I know it is simple and basic, but that was what I was going for! It would even look good with leggings and a t-shirt paired with your favorite sneakers. It is a very fun statement piece that is why I am showing you guys another outfit that I put together with this net dress. But that will be on the next blog post so keep in touch!

Before summer 2016 becomes history I decided to go on a staycation to Palm Springs! It was such a beautiful experience! From the moment I got there to the moment I left I was reminded of how much serenity there is to this unpredictable and precarious world.

I arrived at Palm Springs Aerial Tramway then my journey to the top began. The ten minute tramway ride rotates as it rises above the deserts allowing everyone to get a 360 view. Halfway up I felt my hands getting clammy because I was a bit intimidated by the level of elevation we were reaching. I had about a 2 minute mental breakdown that I kept to myself. I thought to myself, wow, maybe I do have fear of heights. I kept my composure using Snapchat as a distraction. There's no turning back now, plus it was too good to be true!  The location was breathtaking, literally. Still, I was in awe even though I was a little nervous. As the tramway got closer and closer to 8500+ elevation my nerves were calming down and relieved once it arrived to the top. I exited the tramway and arrived at San Jacinto Mountains! The weather was about 15 to 20 degrees cooler, and it was absolutely refreshing. Being that it was my first time, I was very observant and as I looked around almost everyone was dressed in hiking gear, and prepared to explore the mountains. But then there's me in a sundress about to take lots of mental and digital photos to document. But even without the hiking gear, I got in touch with nature. The fresh atmosphere gave me a feeling of restoration, making me forget all that worries me. I would definitely revisit this location to do a lot more exploring! If you love to hike, this is a place to go! Next time I'll be prepared and geared up for action.

In the meantime, keep in touch! I have a few more photos and short stories to share from the trip!

Change, My August Zeitgeist!

IMG_9734.jpg

August has been bittersweet but today is a start of a new month! But first let me give you a highlight of why August has been such a bittersweet time for me. I will spare you the details because I don't want to bore you. I did a lot of moving, physically and mentally which resulted in an uneasy state. I changed my job and  living location that put me miles away from some of my closest friends. As the weeks passed the uneasiness or  bittersweet feeling lingered with me into the month of September, the feeling of change.  I guess it is normal to feel this way when major changes happen. But it is such a rare breed  that when it does commence everything seems overwhelming. Maybe it is the unpredictability of the future. But on the less despairing outlook it posts a possible thrill. It opens a window for adventures.

We all go through change. Some changes may be good, and inevitably sometimes bad but at the end of the day all we can do is let it take its course. Be patient! Change is happening all the time, in my case, August came with a load of change. Slowly but surely I am adapting to the changes and remembering that life goes on and progress will be made!

In between all the changes with myself, my life, my emotions, I found time to go on a staycation to Palm Springs with someone who I hold dear to my heart. I will share my time in Palm Springs in my upcoming blog post. Stay updated my loves!

Striped Ts & Highwaist Jeans #1

Hello fashionistas! I have put together 2 ensembles for you!

It'll be two separate blog posts. This will be the first of 2!

Ensemble #1

DSC_0389.JPG

Let me say I am in love with this striped knit top that I got from Zara a month ago! I don't remember how much it was because I don't recall buying it on sale or regular price. But I remember it being between $15-$30. What I enjoy most about this knit top is the color combination they use because it projects a retro feel to it. I paired it with blue denim high-waisted bottoms, also from Zara! Uh oh, have I become the person who only shops at Zara?! Maybe so, but you can help me! I'd love to hear where you guys get some unique and fun pieces! There's a tab on the top right corner that is titled FEEDBACK! << or click feedback right here. I'd love to hear from you guys!

Belt:

Vintage, thrifted about 6 years ago and I still get good use out of it!

Heels:

Clutch:

Ok I know, you could barely see it. But I've been wearing this clutch  a million and one times (it's like my favorite) eventually I'll get a detailed photo of it before I scratch and damage it some more.

Welcome Back Orthos

IMG_6610.JPG

Heeyyyyy guys! I promise to do better in posting more content. School and work just has me on a real grind lately. But school is about to be over! That means I will get more time to share some really cool things with you guys!!

Just wanted to share the come back of these "ORTHOS"! If you read my blog A Beauty in Disguise you'll know the background story of these shoes. Go check it out if you haven't!

IMG_6609.JPG
IMG_6608.JPG

I really enjoyed this outfit. It's chill and sassy. Sassy on top and chill at the bottom. A pair of white sneakers and distressed denims can go a long way. Try different tops to see how versatile your closet can be. Once in awhile try to explore outside of the basic graphic tees when pairing with denims and white sneakers. You may end up finding some old gems you forgot you had.

IMG_6608.JPG
IMG_6606.JPG

Also, remember when I spoke on matching details together. My last example was matching my socks to the same red purse I used with this outfit. This time it is the red purse, red lipstick, and sunglasses!

A Beauty In Disguise

When you see potential in something it starts becoming beautiful or rather brilliant. You start seeing the possibilities of its worth and the value it portrays. That is what happened in this instance.

IMG_5796.jpg

We received a new pair of sneakers at work and everyone thought they were awful including me. "How can they?" "What are thoooose?!!" were the kind of reactions everyone had. Everyone meaning my not so pleased co-workers. Saying how much it reminds them of nursing shoes or orthopedic shoes. Well, I agree they do, and let me say they are not as comfy as orthopedic shoes, not that I've ever worn a pair, I'm just assuming. Although maybe I should because after wearing these babies my feet and my whole body aches!!

IMG_5798.JPG

As I put them on for the first time  I started envisioning their potential. I said maybe they can look good outside of the whole ensemble(uniform). So it gave me an idea, blog entry! And here I am am! Running my mouth about these wanna be orthopedic shoes. lol

Anyways, back to the fun stuff. I told @YvetteCorinne what if we style these pair of "Orthos" (the name I decided to give it just now) outside of the uniform and blog about it? Of course she was as excited as I was. So we started planning and helping each other put something together.

What did Drake say?? "When I see potential I just gotta see it through"

We did see it through! Yes Drake you know how it gets. These outfits(referencing to the video) are very easy to put together. We decided to stay away from skinny jeans or any pants for that matter  because we felt like it would've been the usual go-to for any sneakers. So we tried to think outside of the box. Not too far out, because these are very basic outfits that anyone can throw together. We chose to do high-waist, midi, pencil skirt, (which ever you prefer to call it) + a cropped top! What can go wrong? Nothing at all!

IMG_5788.jpg

With my outfit I added a gray crew neck pullover cropped top to wrap asymmetrically around my waist for a little playful embellishment!

When you see potential in anything take advantage of it! You see potential, you see possibilities, and options. Why? Because your mind is thinking creatively. Beyond. Outside the box. Whether it's about love, your career, choice of meal, etc. Just see it through!

Pre-Spring Feels

It is finally up! Yes, these contents have been cookin' in my photo album for about a month now. Excited for you guys to watch the video and see the photos.

Let's talk Pre-Spring! This ensemble was easy and effortless. Great for the cloudy California days when the clouds make its dramatic appearances right before Spring!

This solid army green cargo vest definitely provides a spring feel. Very light weight in the fabric and easy to pair with a lot of things from florals, to geometric prints, and solid colors.

In this instance I didn't want to go for a full on spring feel just yet so I stayed away from florals and bright colors. It was a cloudy and breezy day by the beach, so I paired it with a two layered black dress. The inner layer fell as short as the reach of my fingertips with a low V-neckline in the front (right below) and a very low U-neckline in the back (watch video). The sheer outer layer of the dress fell as low as my ankles with a slit on the left and right side. The slits on the dress matched perfectly with the slits on the vest. So as the gust of wind hits me off sometimes (Pharrell reference) the garment doesn't feel heavy and baggy.

IMG_5065.JPG

Let's now talk booties! They're my favorite!! In love with these pair of shoes that I got from Zara a year and a half ago!  Black booties are a must have! These particular ones are embellished with buckles that are detachable so I have a choice of wearing them plain and solid.

Fun Fact:

The beautiful and gorgeous model Gigi Hadid owns a pair.

Lastly, I grabbed this authentic leather bag pack that was created by the talented Natalie Hemmens. Click the photo right above if you want to see more of her leather goods!
